Creating Links

Creating Links is a large Not-for-Profit organisation based in Bankstown that offers a wide variety of services including child and family services, disability programs and foster care support.

Creating Links’ Marketing Director contacted me to create a series of testimonial videos to showcase the passion that drive their carers and the positive impact their services has on hundreds of individuals in Australia.

Pre-production via Teams

Matthew and I met via Teams for 1 hour to plan and talk about each project. It was an opportunity to learn more about each participant, come up with some questions and start planning each shoot including dress code for the participants, timing and location.

These meeting are crucial , they allow me to visualise the project and come up with a detailed shot list and agenda that I distribute on the day.

Video gear for interviews and testimonials

Production

We met at the participants’ home on Saturday morning and each testimonial took under 4 hours to shoot. I brought with me a professional video package including two cinema cameras and multiple lights but I didn’t over do it.

It’s important to bring enough gear so the final video looks amazing but not too much that the participant feels comfortable sharing their stories with us. I always make sure that there is a great energy on set so the participants are enjoying this new experience.

Post-production & different formats

It took me around 5 days to send the first edit to Creating Links. We only did a few rounds of changes for each videos. Once the main video for the website was approved, I created a series of shorter clips for Facebook and Instagram.

The short clips were perfect to raise awareness about becoming a foster parent in Australia and the Instragram reels were designed to drive traffic to the website and turn views into leads.

The final result

I am grateful that Creating Links chose me to create their first testimonial videos. They were very pleased with the result and used these powerful stories externally and internally to promote the amazing work that their staff do.
